Question:
I purchased a new battery and when I installed it the regulator sizzled and a large cloud of smoke came out from the front of the bike. I hooked up the battery the same way as the old one was done. The old battery was just under a year old. Is something draining my battery? This is on a custom built bike with a 113 Ultima motor. The bike is less than a year old. Help please, Thanks

What engine oil is the best for a kawasaki ZXR 750 H1?
Yeah it sounds like reversed polarity, the + goes to the starter.your regulator should have protected your stator. If your regulator is an accell it is warranteed for life ( pretty sure)You may have just had a bad regulator.
One possibility is where the plug for the stator comes through the case there is a small allen retainer screw ,if put in too far can ground or short your alternator?
I am looking for a zx9r pref. a 03. need parts of the whole bike can any1 help me?
Check the wiring from your generator/ alternator. You either have a short, or the clearance between the magnets and the generator coil are too close.Check the battery to make sure the plus and minus are in the same orientation as the old one. Sometimes they swap them. I hope this is not the answer for your sake. You probably smoke the entire ground circuit in the harness too. Ask me how I know this.
Sounds to me like you hooked the battery up the wrong way. Make sure the battery is the correct one (IE the positive and negative terminals are the same as the original battery). Before you hook the battery up again better check out the whole charging system (stator, regulator/rectifier, and battery) for shorted components.
