I run a 4into 1 on my old honda and my girl has cobras on her vulcan we live in a rural area and dont really sweat the law but you need to be careful of performance when changing pipes if the pipes specs dont match your jetting or fuel mapping that needs changed also my bike is older than most of our local and state cops my only real concern is keeping it safe to ride I like em loud so cars can hear me even when they cant see me but like so much in biking to each his own do what feels good and have fun oh and screw the feds they need to worry about bigger things than me and my old sickle

And it's not the po po that I'd be worried about. You can get a federal ticket that's about $2,000 for "modifying" your exhaust. If your pipes don't have the EPA sticker on it, you're modifying your exhaust (just FYI). The cops don't need to do any db checks, just look for the EPA stamp. If it's not there, big federal ticket time.

Bikes with open pipes are already getting private clubs and private housing enclaves (that woud be HOA's) to close their doors to all motorcycles, even those of us with stock motorcycles, because it's easier to ban all bikes than it is to enforce the db laws. And as long as the members approve it, bikes are banned.

They both sound great now. It's nice to actually hear the engine running over the sound of the gears and chains. Be sure and keep your stock pipes just in case you get nabbed.
