2000 Harley wont start or do anything!?

Question:
I'm working on this bike and it has a brand new fully charged battery installed, but when i turn the key i hear the fuel pump turn on but all of the lights wont turn on and it will not start (or try to start)
any suggestions?

Is it possible the sound you are hearing is a breaker opening rather than a fuel pump? Go to the breakers and listen when you key on, do you hear a click at the breakers? wait ,, do you hear another click as it tries to reset?
If so you've got a short.

Check the wire that goes from the regulator to the breakers, if the insulation is damaged and that grounded that might be it.

check the solenoid. If you are hearing no sound at all when you hit the button then the solenoid is not pulling in. I suspect a bad connection there or possibly at the battery. Aloose batt. connection can supply enough power for lights but not the starter

2.Check for a wiring ground-out.
3.Check the starter, bendix spring may be bad.
4.Check the kill switch on the right-side handelbar.
5.Check the ignition switch, may be half bad.

What kind of fuel should I use?

If this problem started since you installed the battery, and it's the only electrical work done, your problem will be in that area. Check if you had more than 1 wire hooked to the battery posts or if any crimp connections are loose.
