The key hole for the seat lock is on the left side of the rear cowl (below the seat).Lift up the back of the rear seat.
You'll see the hardware to remove the front seat.
I've got a 2003 Suzuki TL1000R and I ran into the same deal. The front section of the seat was mounted by two bolts hidden by some of the lower seat padding - just had to peel the edge back and hold it out while wrenching - maybe yours is similar??
