Question:
i just bought my first bike...a 1997 suzuki intruder 800. went to see it at the guy's house, he bought it from a dealer a year prior, and put only 250 miles on it while he owned it(1 year). it had a tune up/oil change when he bought it. it has sat all winter in his garage, he put on a trickle charge the night before i came up to buy it. it started right up, ran a little rough until it warmed up(it was 50 degrees outside/30 in the morning). once warmed, it ran like a champ. i pulle dit home on a trailer in the rain for 50 miles. got it home and it started up, i tried to ride it down the street before it was warmed up and it bogged out on me, then i think i killed the charge. put it on a trickle over night with fresh gas. this morning i can't get it to start! i am doing everything right. it just turns but doesn't try to start, if you know what i mean? help! i thought i smelled a bit of gas, also, after trying to start it a few times.
Answers:
unscrew and retighten the hot side of the battery.make sure the connections are solid and free of corrosion. guarenteed that will cause hard starting when its a bit cold.
for start ups, my way is to pull the choke full out, give it 2 full twists of gas, then hit the starter...dont add gas when cranking. my bike fires right up the 1st time, and stays running. after about a minute, i'll start to slowly feed the choke in until it's fully in. i dont ride until the bottom of the heads start getting warm.
Have i been ripped off. What can i do? xj600?
something else to consider: in hd's, usual oil weight is 20w50. this is a very heavy oil, and at that temp, it can make the bike a bit fussy in cold startings. always allow the bike to fully warm up before taking it on the road. it really sounds like the connections to the battery needs takin care of.
What is the biggest motorcycle you can ride with out a motorcycle lisence?
the chain might of fallen offHonda motor cycle250cc spada stops running when engine warms up. Cools down and will restart?
make sure your gas is on . i had the same bike with after market pipes and i fouled out plugs all the time if i didnt let it warm up good . i couldnt even rev. it without going through a plug it had to be warm. those are cold blooded bikes . check the charge on the batt. make sure the fuel is on or check or change the spark plugs.if you smell gas though you just may have just flooded it .What experiment occurred that involved military and motorcycles in the early 1900's to mid 1900's?
sounds like you fouled a plug did you drive it with the choke on ?Where can I take my Motorbike Theory test around Portsmouth?
usually if a motorcycle boggs and dies it will foul the spark plug just replace the plug and you should be ok but let the bike warm up and after they sit over winter they are more likely to foul the pulg if you dont let them warm upCan someone tell me why my moped wont start?
Sounds like it sat with gas in the tank over the winter. Drain the fuel system, 1/2 fill with premium and a good dose of carburetor/injector cleaner, change plugs, and run it. Let it get good and warm before you ride it. If the carbs don't clear, they will need to be taken apart and cleaned.Motorcycle mechanical advice please?
take ur spark plug out sand it with sand paper ,and turn off the gas turn off choke .try starting it if it doesn turn the choke and tur on gas and start then clean out carb.More Questions & Answers ...
