lettin a battery go full dead is hard on them. especially if they're exposed to freezing weather. i would highly advise u to invest in a battery tender. they'll always keep the battery fully charged.

Jump-starting bikes doesn't do so well. Its not the same as a car. You need to get a trickle charger to recharge your battery. Make sure you match the voltage of the charger to the voltage of your battery. They're pretty cheap and the great thing is... you don't need another vehicle to get your battery going!What would be a good starter motorcyle?
Ah yes... I forgot about bump-starting it. The guys below have info for that as well. If you do go that route, make sure you ride it around for a bit (Hwy speed is better) to let the battery recharge itself.

No No No Do not do it.. the charging system on a bike is very delicate and you may smoke it if you try to jump start it with a high amp car battery, possibly causing expensive damage.. If the battery is in good condition and simply discharged you can disconnect it from the bike and charge it at low amps slowly.. If you charge it too fast you will warp the small plates and ruin the battery..P.S. I also don't think you can push start the new electronic ign. bikes like you could the old point type ign. The Bucc is half right. The Bike Electrical System can't Take the Load of say a Car ignition. Soooo...If you Jump it from a car, DO NOT START THE CAR you will overload the mtc system.Are motercyles allowed to ride in between lanes like that??

if the fuel pump kicks on (youshould be able to hear it) you can push start the bike if not put the batt on a slow 2 amp charge for a couple hours untill you can start the bike then ride it at speed for a good amount of time to help charg it more short trips will kill a batt fastIf you don't have cables, you can't jump start it.
Push start it in second gear. If / when it starts, it will need to run faster than idle for a while to get some charge back in the battery.
When you get to jump start it, don't be scared. You won't hurt your motorcycle.
