Ah yes the dreaded kh250/400/750 what sweet tortuous memories!! Horrendous handling, ghastly fuel consumption and a middle cylinder that would foul plugs unless you were giving the bike some serious yahoo!. I remember the first time i serviced one of the 750's and i took it for a test ride on the a30 dual carriageway outside Exeter. I went hammering past a triumph bonneville at about 70mph in 4th gear and changed down!! Hit the power band and the front end came up about 60 degrees and i was doing 90 mph on the back wheel. I have never scared myself so much ever!! I had a Suzuki GT380 that i owned after that, but it was tame in comparison to the kwacker.Where can I find a BMW motorcycle mechanic in Indianapolis?

in the 70s there were still plenty of British bikes around the old Bonneville Norton BSA and you could always pick one up for a tenner i wish you still could life was so much better in the 70s my brother had a shed full of old British bikes

Fast yes, in their day, but, nothing compared to the new stuff. A good H2 would run the quarter in the low 12s, the new 600s do it in the low 10s, not mention about 30mph more top speed. I had Kawasaki KH400 triple. Fast sumb*tch but couldn't keep plugs from fouling. Always carried two sets with me...one to start it on...get it warm and switch them alongside the road after it got warmed up. Good thing it only took a couple of minutes. Damn it was fast though. Yes loved the bike from the 70's when I was a young lad of 16. I remember my first bike (like we all do) a Derbi GT4v sports moped reg no KPO 72P. Yes it could do only 30 mph, Derbi were very advanced in their thinking introducing a 30mph sports moped years before it became law. Why did I have to buy the slowest bike on the block when everyone else's could do 50!!!!!!!! Arrrrgggghhhhh a disaster when your only 16.There is always something about the bikes from your youth. the 2-strokes were great! I had a GT250A and probably the first Suzi X7 on the road (S reg), great bike. From my GT750 to my Honda 400 dream I loved 'em all. Biking was so exciting then (it always is when your young).

There's no doubt modern bikes are fantastic, far better built, lighter, handle better etc etc, but thats not the point. It's when your young you dream of big bikes, exciting bikes...
