CDI Ignition Conversation?

Question:
Is there a way to convert a CDI ignition to points? I removed a 250cc engine from a 1981 Yamaha Exciter and I want to use it in a dune buggy. I can’t get the engine to spark. What options do I have to make this engine run? I have a CDI but I have no idea on how to wire it to the coil from the wires from the magneto. I found the CDI box at a recycle center that I took off a bike that was a 2 cylinder. I also think that if I knew how to wire it, I might be able to make it work. Any ideas thoughts or options? Thanks

What could be the most likely cause of my yamaha yzf-r1 to partially shut down electric meaning starter rpm ?

What happened to the original bike wiring, that is what you will need, you can't use just any CDI box, they are very specific. I suggest you put the engine back into the bike do what you have to do to fix it and forget about the dune buggy idea. It will be a huge project, the gas tank will have to be above the engine unless you use a fuel pump. You will have to come up with clutch and shifting linkage. The gearing will be have to be changed/figured out, motor mounts, muffler mounts, etc. I am not saying that it can't be done, but, it will be alot of work and probably won't work very well when you are done.
