Question:
Is this bike a reliable and safe machine? Please tell me the disadvantages to this bike as well as the advantages. What should I look out for in a second hand machine which may spell trouble for me. Also is a particular year better than another? I can't afford the latest model so will be getting something probably a couple of years old. I am not mechanically minded or gifted so want something virtually trouble free except for the usual maintenance things. Is this bike a good choice for a beginner and novice. Your answers will be well read. Many thanks in advance. I look forward to your replies asap.

Where can you find a kickstarter for a Kawasaki KLX 79' 250?
That is a decent bike, but unless you are planning on being really sedate, never carrying a passenger, and never carrying any luggage, you will soon find it woefully underpowered. Take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course before you buy a bike. The course is fantastic, and you generally learn on Rebel 250s or equivalent. After completing the course you may decide that a) you don't like riding b) you do and 250cc is enough power, or c) that you love it and need a 600 or more.on a 2 stroke y do u need 2 change rings after 15 hours?
The Virago is a great machine and as a woman with a presumably shorter inseam it should definitely be on your shortlist, but not necessarily in that engine size. Also consider financing a new bike as the payments are generally manageable and you will get a factory warranty, although on most Japanese bikes that is kind of a moot point because they are like Colt .45 in the sense that they work every time.
very good bike for a beginner.just stay away from the early 80'sbut i would have her try a 550 its not much heavier than the two fiity and once she learns how to ride, you wont have to trade up if u intend on long rides anything over 60 is just gonna wind out the motor on a 250.if you have to buy a mid 80's just make sure thestarter is good.thats the only problem with viragos that i have come across hope this helps

Go for a Rebel or Nighthawk both are nice and not too heavy etc..A 250 Virago...... Kidding are'nt you? These are underpowered deathtraps not fit for the roads.
which 150 cc bike is best in India between CBZ Extreme, Apache, Pulsar 150, Unicorn and Fiero?
Consider an older Honda, say a CB 750. Hell if shes keen on two wheels try an old Harley Sportster - this will make her younger by 10 years.
Hi. Yamaha virago 250cc is a good bike for starters. Advantages would be; it is light, easy to maneuver, limited top speed, and most of all, your feet is flat on the ground when you stop. It may have a small engine but still, if not handled properly, it can hurt you.
Buell XB12s .....question about bike & wheelies?
Year model of the bike wouldn't really matter but if you can get the newer model, the better. First of all when buying a second hand bike. Check the appearance. It may be new but if it is total wreck, of course don't get it. Not unless you're into recon business. If the appearance is good and with minor scratches, that's a good sign. Now check on the engine. Try to start it and listen to the engine. If there are rattling sound any scary noise coming from the engine and not from the exhaust pipe, don't get it. You'll be spending more time and money fixing it than riding it.
The engine sound should be quiet. You'll know what i mean when you're standing in front of it.
