Hi Ro!Since you have written that u r importin a 2004 model then I am assumin that its second hand and is registered abroad (from wherever you are importing). So here are your answers:
motorbike homework for my 10 year old daughter?
1. Its obvious that a bike registered abroad will have to be registered here again since the Indian government will not accept a registration of UK, US etc. If you are buyin a bike from someone in India that is already registered in an Indian State, then it depends on you whether u want to transfer the vehicle in ur name or continue with the previous. If you r buyin from India, i guess u can get it transferred in ur name.
2. There are a few small and big garages/workshops which work on imports and they keep the basic stuff like oils and regularly replaced spares too (headlights etc.), so it takes care of your questions #2, 3, 4 and 7.
3. Although sportsbike run okay on usually available 91 octane fuel, it is advisable that u get the best available to get the max performance. Speed 97 (Octane 97) is available at few places in India but I cant say about C'garh. Even if u use 91 octane, just make sure it is not adulterated.
4. It depends on how bad the crash is. If you crash big, u r screwed and done. Most bikes after crashes can be made nearly right, but it takes a loooooooong time.
5. Depends on riding and road conditons. I can give a very rough idea, say 15-20 KPL.

With these questions, you need to consider buying a local beater....go carts dealers in baton rouge?
How am I supposed to know how you register imported vehicles in India??
How am I supposed to know where to get it serviced? Have any local Honda mechaincs in your area?? Buy yourself some tools and a factory manual as well...
You can buy everything online - oils, chains, sliders, spools, coolants, etc. Try Repsol.com for oils. Try anywhere for other stuff. And Yes, you have to drill them if you get that type - some come without having to drill but cost more.
You should use only highest octane available.
You are screwed if you crash. Spares - online with everythying else.
Expect around 30-40 mpg if you ride normally (not on redline constantly).
