They are a good reliable bike and the newer ones engines are very similar to the bulletproof cg125.
Honda are one of the best motorcycles manufacturers and the bike in question, unrestricted will do about 70-80 mph, an excellent bike, had 2 of them in the past.
speed is not everything if it gets you from a to b safely it is a good bike i have a honda cb 250 n and a 800 triumph bonneville the 250 is gutless but does 70 (eventually) great for work the triumph is for the weekend f**k does it go it will do a ton easy but wont stay with me mates harley its 1200 you stay safe and i'll see you at the ace cafe
70 mph, all the XL range have been around for years so that speaks for itself. I toured Europe on a XL 250 2 up and no probs.
They are very good bikes to learn on although watch out in the wet if they have knobbly tyres fitted!

Depending on what year it is, the XR's are great dirt bikes, but are no race ready speedsters. More of a family fun bike that will give you years of dependability and fun. Lots of power for a 125 but @ a entry level its good to learn on, but you won't find them at the race tracks. On a straight line wide open maybe you'll get 65 mph out of if your under 150lbs.
