I plan to sell my 98 Magna this year, and would like to know when would be a good time to start listing it? I live in Wisconsin which means riding season for the majority of us doesn't start until April or May.

The best time to sell a bike anyware is just toward the end of Spring coming into summer, whatever time of year that is where you are.Reason being is that the fine weather riders start to come out and are usually looking for something new, these are also usually the older riders with a lot more disposable cash.

Be aware that if you are busy and dont have time to sit home at weekends waiting for people to come around and kick tyres a lot of motorcycle shops will sell bikes on a consignment basis and take a commission (usually 10%).

To get the best price make sure you have all the documentation including ownership papers and the full service history and dont forget to advise your lender of your intention to sell if it is still undere finance.

You should list it for sale when you want to sell it. If you want to get top dollar for it you want to sell it in the peak of your season. If you need the money from your bike to finance a newer bike then that may not be an option since you will then be buying in the peak season too.I would suggest that you try selling your bike at tax time when people have the money to spend.

I would start a month before riding season. If you start too early, not too many buyers will give you your price, if you start too late and much of the season is over, buyers will not want to pay your price because they've lost a lot of the season.Forged, or billet, What's the difference?
You can also list after "bonus time" (around Christmas through January/February) and get 'em while they have money. That's when I bought my Harley! (this is Sandra's husband)...

I would list it in early March, if your season doesn't start until April.Many people get the "feeling" just prior to when they can actually start riding. I bought my CB750K in April from a guy who advertised it on Craigslist. I didn't know at the time I would be getting a new Harley in July.
