Question:
I bought a Honda XR 600 R and the piston broke and damaged the sleeve.
I however have a spare XR 500 sleeve and piston and was just wondering if i can fit that to the 600 engine with the cam covers of the 600.

What is a good beginner road motorcycle?
my answer is no, why because the cylinder its 500cc you need 96cc more, you sleeve ore cylinder is smaller then you crank case or transmicion ,the bolts locations never going to fit you only choice take you cylinder to the shop so they can put a new sleeve and get a new piston from wiseco.com they have good kits for decent price ,also you will need to grinde you valves seats before you asemble the motor ,because event with new piston and rings you comprecion will be less than that you need the seats on the valves ned to be like new good look ,i tell you this because iam a motorcycle technician on indianapolis i have my own shop.Sorry but it wont fit and if you did make it fit it wouldnt run.
Bite the bullit buddy and get the right spares..
