Now see I disagree with these guys (not saying they were not comfortable), but I rode a buddy's Sportster home and it was an uncomfortable ride. Now to qualify my statement I should mention I ride a VTX 1800, which is a large/wide bike. Personally I found it to sit to high, and be too thin for my taste. i'm 6', 190 and i have no problems riding my 1200 as far as i want to in a sitting. current 'record' for a 1 day trip was 400 miles. i have the engine guard and a pair of highway pegs on it for when on the interstate. junk the stock seat tho and get a sundowner or ur azz will be sore within 70 miles. stock seats totally suck. and get a detachable windshield...the windblast will wear u out within 150 steady miles at high speed.what are the brand names of carb cleaners?
Last year, needing to borrow a bike, my brother supplied a 100th anniversary 883 Sportster. Together, we spent the next 3 days in the saddle in Wisconsin touring. Well over 500 miles, I'm 6'4" and 250 pounds, and I was constantly amazed at what a great bike it really was.Not perfect for me, but a really good bike. And capable at everything it did.

As far as dis'ing a brand, get real. The Harley twin is legendary for a reason. My Buell 1200 gets 55 miles to the gallon. Wheelies all day long. And it's all attitude. So beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Well you seem to be a good sized boy. I'm 6'1 and about 250. I rode a friends 1200 Sportster and it felt like I was on a 10 speed bicycle. I may have been more comfortable if it had forward controls, but I thought it was too small for me. I guess you have to go to a dealer and sit on a few.In Virginia, is a150cc dirt bike street legal?
