1982 Kawasaki 440 LTD.
I've already replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the carbs, using fresh fuel, an inline fuel filter, and a brand new and fully charged battery.
But it still won't run and stay running. I have gotten it to start several times with the help of starting fluid, but it keeps dying as soon as the starting fluid is burned off.
Rules for riding a riding mower on the road?
Anybody think that the inline filter (new) could be too restrictive? What else could cause it to not stay running?

the carbs are cleaned ? Did you take them apart and take the jets out and cleaned them ? The pilot jet clean with no deposits ? It sounds like you have a problem getting fuel to the cyclinders. Is the intake manifold in good shape with no air leaks ? Your bike is over 20 years old. It might be time for some engine work. Have you adjusted the valves recently? If the valve clearances are to tight, it would give the symptoms you're describing.When the valves are tight, they aren't closing all the way.
Also the valves could be leaking. You should perform a cylinder "leak down" test.
