Question:
I'm looking to get a cruiser-style motorcycle, and have noticed that the cheaper brands such as Hyosung use final-drive belts instead of o-ring chains. Is this a significant indicator of lower quality or performance? Is there any real difference between the two types of final-drive?
Also, if anyone has a Hyosung (especially the GV650), please tell me what you think about it, particularly in terms of quality and performance.
Answers:
I have heard that the belt slightly lowers the horsepower to the rear wheel. To be honest, I haven't noticed. I do like the minimal maintenance. Chains are a little noisier, require lubrication, cleaning, more frequent tensioning..
Is Harley Davidson a cheaper brand? They use belt drives.
They last at least as long, if not longer than chains.
What is the 0-100 time for the bike Suzuki gsxr 1000 2006?
As far as the Hyosung, it's your choice. Look around for parts and service availability before you commit yourself. I've heard good and bad.
I'd like to buy a Harley Davidson, but I don't want to re-finance my house. Any suggestions?
Belts/shafts rule-no chains, no lube, no mess.Is there going to be a road version of the Honda RC212V moto gp bike ? It's awesome !?
It really depends on who you talk to. Supposedly, belts are smoother and lower maintenance. If you look at any modern sportbike... they all have chains.I dont think the belt/chain drive debate should make or break your decision.
As for the Hyosung... I would pick up a used bike instead. Maybe an SV650. I think you will have reliability problems with the Hyosung.
Good luck,
Can you finance a already financed motorcycle?
belt drive is quit-er and smother how ever they brake ofter 50 or 60 miles the chain drive may make a litter more noise they are stronger and last longerPlease help me, my 2005 yamaha r6 will not start. I have no clue what to do.?
belt, no brainer. belts last just as long as a chain and won';t wear out your sprockets.stay away from chinese bikes!!
My harley backfires until shutting off after a 65 mile freeway why?
Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha use shaft final drives. A belt drive is quiter and smoother than a chain, but I love my shaft drive since there is no maintenance to do on it.One thing I like about chains is that roadside if you break a chain you can repair it if you have a bit of skill,a few tools and some links.Break a belt and well...better call a cab.
