First, these questions are asked just to stir up the pot. They aren't asking a question searching for any answer, they just want to see people bash each other and be able to say "hey I was responsible for that". Second, I agree with you that their attitude and so called question is only an attempt to insult Harleys and Harley riders. Instead of trying to pull riders together so we can speak with one loud voice on issues that impact us, they seek to divide riders. Third, I have adopted the position not to respond to those questions any longer. If I do not give them the attention they seek, perhaps they will find some other cause to get their attention. CarQnA.com is about helping others. It should not be a forum to insult, threaten or demean someone because of what they like.If you ask a question then why get silly reply like from pilockmong?
I ride a Harley and will ride with anyone (Harley or metric) who respects other riders. Those that ask obvious anti-Harley (i.e. anti-rider) questions, aren't worth the time of day.

They always use the pre 1984 negative stereotypes to make their argument that Harley's are unreliable.
Like "they rattle them selves apart", "they leak oil", "they have high maintenance issues", "they break down on the side of the road", etc.
I guess they hate Harley's either because they are too cheap to invest in one and are upset that a Japanese cruiser doesn't earn them the same respect.

I like all motorcycles, be it a Harley, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Victory, or any other brand. I live to ride and ride to live. I say keep on riding....If I could afford a Harley, then I would probably get one, but I am happy with my Honda. Maybe one day I can move up to the Harley when finances allow.AMEN TO PAUL J. A lot of folks that post these questions are just trying to get a rise out of someone. I like all bikes myself and feel that anyone that puts down on any brand of motorcycle is not a true motorcyclist. I have to admit though that their are Harley riders out there that do propagate this type of attitude from others. It is by no means whatsoever all Harley riders, just a few. Now that I have mine, I'll never go back to metric bikes. I have nothing bad to say about metric bikes and the folks that ride them; the way I look at it, it doesn't matter WHAT you ride, but that YOU RIDE. Period.

Last Harley I owned was a 1962 Panhead...sure wish I had that old kicker back now...the other day, I stopped by my local dealership and tried out an Ultra Classic...nice ride, but not enough performance, esp. not for the money. But I learned a long time ago not to dis anyone's ride...it's embarrassing if ya do that and then break down and along comes that same Dude and he stops to help...A LOT of the Patriot Guard ride Harleys, but they don't seem to mind when I show up on my Voyager XII...they just like it that I show up...there are many more important issues than that. I ride a Harley.Harley riders stick together, no matter what. Most HD riders would give you the shirt off their back. They are Legends. They aren't these "geeks" that ride down the road with tennis shoes on. They ride...and they ride hard. My HATS OFF TO ALL HARLEY RIDERS. What I find interesting is that all the bashing is restricted to one BRAND of motorcycle, not a particular style. The Japanese cruisers dump on HDs, the rocket riders dump on HDs, people without a clue about bikes at all dump on HDs. Then there's the ones that ride thiers and so dump on those that don't. What's gained? Nothing except a small amount of self-satisfaction. My opinion is public already. I don't care what you ride, or how you ride. Just respect others as well. The only thing that gets me a little fogged up is that it's always the old crap that's brought up. If anyone wants to say a negative about my HD, at least have the courtesy to find a TRUTH.

What's the difference, buy what you like, enjoy it, and ride it safe.I only have one thing against H-Ds. They seem to attract a type of person bent on getting the most annoying quantity of decibels out of it. Think of it, when you are passed by a loud bike, aren't you more surprised when it isn't a Harley? I think if they could get rid of those few yahoos, people might like bikers better.
