I am looking for a motorcycle between 676cc and 875cc. I would like a sport/touring bike. Not a crotch rocket. Anyone have some good Ideas? Also, my budget is limited; I can only spend around $2000-$3000, so I am not looking for fancy either; a used bike would be fine.

VTX 1300 is a great bike for sport touring. My wife is 5.1 and she fits her VTX1300R/S like a glove loves it has put 20000 miles on it never had a problem I do the maintnance . A used Kawasaki Concours will be PERFECT for you. It is a 1000cc sport/touring bike with full fairing, hard saddlebags and shaft drive. It was originally designed to compete with BMW's sport tourer and has been manufactured for 20 years so there are LOTS of mods/parts for it. 2006 was the last year for the original design. Look up Concours Owners Group and they have a Classifieds page for you to get an idea of what you can afford. It really is a great bike.What should my compression be in psi?
Any Yamaha, I have own over 30 bikes in my life, from Italian to Harley.the yamahas are bullet proof...Period...you can go cheaper, or a little faster, maybe some better handling out there on the high side of the dollars but you want good quality for the price YAMAHA!! Besides you should be able to find a 650 maximum or 650 Vee w/shaft drive for around those dollars. If you are a beginner, DO NOT BUY SOMETHING ANY BIGGER THAN THIS!! Best thing you could do is go and ride some dirt bikes for a while before you get on the street. It has to be a harley. Spend a bit more and get the newer sportster. Much better resale, lowered and no more bad vibrations.You might find what you are looking for in the Hyosung GV-650. Very sporty looking. (See link to pic below). But if you are looking for cruising comfort, I'm partial to the Yamaha V-Star 650. (Also see link to pic). For only three thousand though, you might be hard pressed to find something newer then 2004 and under 10K miles.
