1st, they're probably not leather (never heard of leather melting, it burns and stinks doing so).. They were plastic (pleather), I'll bet. Try waiting for the pipes to get hot and put ice or very cold water on the mess, it may crack.If that doesn't do it, wait for them to completely cool and try gasoline or another solvent (like paint remover) on them. Repeat...WHEN TOTALLY COOL TO TOUCH. This may work or may make it worse so be prepared. Hope this helps w/ the mystery goo. They make heat sheild but first buy a reputable set of leather bags. As a leather worker, I can tell ya.LEATHER DON'T MELT!It was probably vinyl, or some type of plastic.
