i want the bike new you think is reliable ,i dont nowk about harleys ,i never have a harley and i want to have one,i have hondas and yamahas,good bikes but i want a screming eagle,honda ofer me good deal ,but a like harleys transmicion and motor desing because if something go wrong on the transmicion you dont have to open the motor and get more gasket sets or pay more labor,please getme a good advise,thanks all

i have about 7000 miles give or take on my 1200 sportster and i bought this off the floor at the dealer with 15 miles on the clock. i've had zero instances of problems with the tranny or motor in the over 6000 miles i put on it myself.Forward Controls. Why do you use them?
they're good bikes, easy to work on, good fuel mileage, and if u outfit them right, they can easily run with the big boys on trips..those that say they cant do it, either dont have the guts to actually ride 500 or more miles in a sitting, didnt properly set the bike up to do it comfortably, or simply dont ride bikes yet claim they do.

Juan,I don't own one,but was going to buy one last year and decided not to..The 883 is really too light. the 1200 is better.. I was looking at both.. Almost bought a soft tail to ride back and forth to work,but I only work 7 miles from home. So I saved the money. If you can afford a bigger one, I'd check them out. I did have a "rice rocket" years ago,but almost got hit by a driver not paying attention. Figured the bigger bike might be easier to see.. good luck

The pic of you "posing" next to your bike like that leads me to believe that you are a poser, and since harleys are pretty much all about the image and not the mechanics, this only confirms my belief that you are a poser. Buy the 1200. The 883 is VERY slow and won't sell very good when you don't want it anymore (they flood the market with these).Go with the Harley. I recently went shopping for bikes and the 2007 Sportster 1200R won me over. It is at the shop right now getting a stage one upgrade and a little more chrome (Harley tax) and Monday I get to pick up my new bike. The riding position, the look and the sound are great. The 1200 also has the power to keep up with any riding friends except super sport bikes but who needs to do 160MPH anyway?

Yes, either the 883 or 1200 will EASILY go 30,000 miles, probably 130,000!! IF you take care of it!
We've got 38,000 on our 91 XL1200 with the last 7500 pushing the dogs sidecar. The Sportster has been a hard working and dependable part of our family of Harleys.

I've never owned either but I've seen them come in the shop. I wouldn't mess with the 883. We outsiders consider it bait to get you to buy a larger Harley.Ok then...what would get to 150 mph faster, a new corvette z06 or a 600cc sportbike ?
The Sportster is a nice inexpensive Harley and if you buy 2004 or newer they have the rubber motor mounts which make the ride a little better than the older models. I have a 2004 883C it has no problems keeping up with the big boys. What I did first was replace the stock seat with a touring seat and this has even made it more enjoyable to ride. If taken care of properly you won't have any more problems than we have had with other bikes. The 883C has the larger gas tank and forward controls. I would also suggest a windshield, it helps cut down on wind Resistance.I have a 98 yamaha r1 how do i clean carburators?
