Question:
I am planning to purchase a new motorcycle from a dealership near my college after taking the MSF course. Preferably I am looking at a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD (2007-2005ish). I decided to go with a new bike, since I have the dealership guarantee and not really have to worry about wear and hidden dammage. I have never purchased a vehicle in my life and I want to know a few things about the whole purchasing procedure so that I don't sound like a sucker when it comes to the big day:
-Can I negotiate the MSRP price/price on the tag
-If I do not have the lump sum value, am I restricted to the dealership's payment plan or is it flexible (ie does it have to be $X deposit with $X. per month ir is it variable?)
-Info on warranty, guarantee
-Do I get a test ride before purchase

What stores sells west coast chopper clothing?
New or used, It always helps to get to know the dealer. Good dealer salesmen will answer your questions regardless of your experience. Try and find a salesman who doesn't make you feel "inferior" because of your knowledge. Contrary to popular belief, dealers want to sell you a bike at a fair price. Shop around but keep in mind if you like a dealer you will feel more comfortable taking your bike to them to learn the ropes. How can I get my mother to realize that motorcycles are safe?
New rider=Used bike. By a 2-5 year old, low mileage bike from a dealer. This will give you a lower payment, lower insurance payment and will allow you to find out what kind of bike you like. Used bikes hold their value pretty well.
Yes, You can negotiate price but some manufacturers don't give the dealer much room to move on new bike prices. Try and negotiate the price down a little and get them to throw in a free helmet, gloves or jacket. They have more room to move on accessories than the bikes.
What kind of bikes does everyone ride i know most have more than 1?
Check to see if you qualify for dealer financing. Credit unions are also a good bet. You will need some money down regardless.
How to stop noisy bikers on streets even at midnight?
Warranty is pretty much all the same for all manufactueres on new bikes.
Will only run with starter engaged?
You won't get a test ride before purchase if you don't have a valid license...but if you get to know someone at the dealer, they may let you take a used bike out. Doesn't hurt to ask.
Motorcycle Exhaust/Mufflers question. Can you help me out?
Best of luck! Don't be afraid of the bike!
O/k, So just WHY is Manx TT so much better than Daytona or Sturgess?
dont do it johonny . your insurance will be wild. get a car i would recommend a volvo s40 or something like thatAs far as purchasing a new motorcycle, its pretty much the same as purchasing a new car, except for the fact that you interest rates will be much higher, unless you qualify for a promotion or special financing rate put out by the manufacturer. Most dealerships will bargain with the price a little, but don't expect any major changes in the price, and as far as financing, its up to whichever bank that will take you, and what they require.
Warranty is usually standard on brand new motorcycles by the manufacturer, I'm sure you can probably by an optional warranty from the dealership, but in my experience, its not worth it. And to my knowledge I dont know of any dealership that lets you test drive any kind of bike. Hope this helps.
My xj600n cut out! i had to push it 2 miles home?
If this is your first bike, you should start out with a used one so that you can learn all about the pitfalls of motorcycle ownership. Then when you want to get rid of it, you don't take such a beating.Other than that, you can negotiate the price just like anything else. Arm yourself with knowledge of what other dealers are charging, even if they're 200 miles away. If you can save $500, riding or trucking the bike back won't cost you that much.
Why are Harley Davidson still the Rolls Royce of motorcycles?
unless u already have ur mc endorsement, u wont be able to test ride any bike from any dealer...permits wont cut it because of the dealership's ins. some dealer's ins. co's want a rider to have been licensed for at least a year. been there, done it.u might get to negotiate with metric dealers if u can make them 'bid' against each other on the same bike as to what stuff u want on it before u'd roll it out the door. the payments will be based on what interest rate u can snag, and how much coin u drop down on the day of signing. if u can snap up an '06 that is low miles, chances are, the dealer would be willing to be talked down just so he can bring out a brand new '07. if possible, see what ur bank will offer in interest rates vs the dealer's bank. from what i remember when i was looking at a metric bike, the lowest rate i was able to get was 10.5% from the dealer's bank.my bank wanted 11.5%.
banks dont consider a bike a 'gotta have' item.it's a 'wanna have' item, and they will jack the chit outta u in interest unless u can plunk down a very sizeable chunk of change on it. if it's at a dealer, a used bike will have been 100% inspected before they'd even put it on the floor, and they would be much cheaper than a '07 model.
Which bike shud i buy..temme a gud bike..?
as far as warrenty goes; metric bikes seem to only come with a 1 year warranty, and hd gives 2 years. in the 2 years i've had my bike, i've had zero issues with it.
