Where can I get a complte working motorcycle engine at a low price?
Do not get a crotch rocket , especially for a first bike , that is all about image , and speed . Get a bike built for traveling you will enjoy it much more , because you will spend more time on it , and actually go places instead of trying to show off , and ending up pinned under a truck. Girlfreinds are much more comfortable on a Classic Style than a Crotch rocket.CB 750, if you can handle the weight ,Better yet , the 500T 4 stroke Fun, comfortable, just the right amount of power , and they look good , get an older one in good shape. Your insurance company will thank you. And you will live longer.

Were you at the Southend shakedown? Where abouts were you and was it good?
You need to start out on a 250, she will easily do 110mph and you can still easily die at those speeds. It will allow you to learn how to ride, how to lean, the weight, how to become one with a bike, won't be over powerful or toss you off the back, if you get into tight situation and gun it by accident, you don't have 600+ sitting under you that is gonna take you for a rougher ride.
How do you drain the oil from a 1999 harley road king?
I learned on a 600 and I bought killed myself, miracle I am even here today. It scared me off the bike and I haven't ridden since. Don't let the same happen to you, for I wish I could ride...but my white knuckles say otherwise.

Does anybody else find something slightly sexual about certain vehicles?
I can not stress that start of on a smaller sized bike, until you have had some experience on the road. Sadly you will drop the bike at least once, any real bike rider will agree.

If you can afford to do a rider course do so, and ensure you have all the correct gear for riding, Kevlar/leather jacket, pants and boots, helmet is a given.
Honda, Aprilia are great bikes to start out on. My wife wants a Vesper or Yamaha virago, which is great bike for women to learn on.

With the exception of the Harley vote there are some pretty good answers here. Obviously a decent Harley is too heavy and too expensive for an 18 year old beginner. I think the Ninja 250 would be a good starter for you. I don't like cruiser type bikes for beginners. The seating position is not the best for learning to balance and manuver the bike.More Questions & Answers ...
