I am 5 months pregnant. We already have a 7 year old. My husband and I both work full time and have decent jobs. We have no problem paying our bills. Hubby has even been putting almost $1000 per month into savings.
He really wants to buy a Harley-Davidson. It's a very nice bike, yes, I like it too.
We're just a little nervous about doing it right now. Hubby is very concerned about what others will think of him buying this bike with a pregnant wife.

he will only be happy if he gets close to the harley he can afford, and it has enough power to be able to ride the both of u. the word is, the '07's are running quite lean and to get them running like the '06's, they need the stage 1 done before u even pick em up. pipes for the '07's hasnt come out just yet.u didnt mention what style he was looking at, but i would recommend for 2-up riding: heritage softail, electra-glide standard, or a road king. the more u plunk down on the down payment, the easier the payments will be to choke down.
since there's quite a few people looking to sell their current scoots to get an '07, i would recommend looking around at used bikes from model year '03 to '06, and decide how much u want to spend. yes, u wont have the 2 yr factory warranty like a brand new bike, but most harley owners i know take extremely good care of their bike. i cant say the same for metrics.

i love motorcycles and they are a great hobby, and can also be very economical (although harley's arent the greatest on gas mileage, but they do sound great)

Look at some new used bikes, many people buy a bike and change their minds less than two years later. It all depends on where you live in the USA, if you live in the south of the us, you can ride almost all year long.

If you are OK with it go ahead and buy the bike. Make sure that he always wears a helmet and safety gear.Yes you should, but make sure it has all you are needing and then a little bit more, Dyna Glide is a great bike, I personally prefer the Heritage Softail because it can be converted into a sportier bike by easily removing the bags and the windshield. I also recommend you take it into a H-D shop and have it checked out, I bought an 07 myself and I got it becuase of the 6 speed tranny and the 96 cu inches of engine, the largest base model engine in H-D history.
But Harley is the bike to have and make sure you join your local HOG chapter, they have ideas, safety classes and rides that are what make it fun to own a bike this big.

If he is concerned about what others think then he doesn't belong on a bike. If you do get the bike look around for a good independent shop. Stay away from HD dealers like they have the plague. Most good mechanics own their own independent shops. The ones working at the dealerships are usually bottom of the barrel. Well if you feel like spending the money go ahead. Actually I have more fun on my Yamaha than on a Harley. Yes I have owned both. While Harley has drastically improved the bike over the years I am staying with what I got. It don't cost anything to look at all makes and models, and depending on what you are going to use it for any major brand will be fine. Have a look at all aspects such as insurance, registration cost, maintenance cost and parts when you check them out.Enjoy the ride and remember it doesn't matter what you ride just that you ride.

I had a '93 DWG (first year). It's a sweet ride;dependable and comfortable. Go for it!wide glide is a very good bike. it has enough punch to ride 2-up rather easy, and has enough lean angle that it can be ridden aggressively in the twisties. the '06's by now have all the bugs worked out with the new 6 speed cam gear. tell hubby to relax and have fun on his 'new' wide glide. others wont be riding his scoot so he shouldnt worry about what they say, think or whatever.
sportsters, deuce's, and wide glide's are probably the best bikes hd makes for twisty roads...except for buells.

Nope, Not Strange what-so-ever.My wife got knocked up (with the first one) so she told me to "Go get your new bike cause I am not riding on that Sportster for the next ten years"...So I bought a new HD Heritage. Still had the HD Sportster for awhile but sold it later that year.

This was in real later 04 (infact, 12/30/04), so I bought a left over 04 model that the dealer needed to get off the floor. I Saved about 2300 bucks off MSRP.
Anyhow, we now have two kids and when it's not snowing or real cold I ride to work everyday...sometime I hit rain on the way, but hey it's better than driving my truck.

Sure, why not. We had three kids when I started to ride. It's a little harder, but still possible to get a babysitter.That 6-speed transmission is nice.

No reason why he shouldn't get the bike.My husband uses the Harley for his commute to work and it saves so much on gas. Besides once your baby is born and your back to normal. . . . the rides are so relaxing on the weekends (if you go a sitter).
