Motorcycle Wont Start Troubleshoot?

OK heres the deal, first you have to make sure the battery is good. Take it out and charge it, or take it to a bike shop and have them charge it, they will also be able to load test it for you. I suspect that a weak battery is your problem. OK now that the battery is taken care of if it still doesn't start and just clicks you have to test the solenoid. Follow the large red battery cable to the solenoid, use and old screwdriver or pliers to jump accross the two large terminals on the solenoid. If the starter is OK the engine will turn over (note: you don't even have to have the key on and make sure the bike is in neutral before you try this). If the engine turns like this you have a bad solenoid. If the engine does not turn over you have a bad starter motor...or...something is wrong with the engine itself. A loud clicking noise is usually because either your battery is low in power or the solenoid is not functioning properly.

I have a 77 sportster, my ? is can i use any 12 volt battery or do i have to use those large batteries?

If you know what, or how, to do it, you can bypass some/all of the starting routes (Wires) for current and simply use a jumper cable to test the starter motor, but if you are not sure of what you are doing DON'T TRY IT.

Were can i find spares for a gilera gsm 50cc?

the loud click IS the solenoid, the click is a good sign. Remove sidepanel (or whatever fazer has) and find the solenoid, switch ignition on MAKE SURE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL. Short a spanner across the two nuts on top of the solenoid, if the starter turns and the engine starts, replace the solenoid, if you still just get a click check the starter motor itself.

How do u put an exhaust on a 79 kawaski 650?

if the solenoid clacks when you push the start button the chances are that the battery is not fully charged or is defective.A battery will run lights down to about 30% of it's capacity but needs about 85% of it's capacity to turn the starter motor.I would suggest you bench charge the battery or try to start the bike using another vehicle and some heavy Duty (10 mm or larger) jump leads

Weird Noise From My Forks?

I've had yhis problem before. It was due to not enough juice getting through from the battery.I charged it up and still no luck. The battery was fine. The cause was simple.Just a bad earth.Make sure you clean up your terminals well and make sure there is no corrosion on the earth terminal to the frame.
