What is the small metal wedge inside the throttle control of a harley rode king.?

Question:
Throttle stuck while riding. Once I removed the hand gear a little 3/4" metal piece fell off. Does anybody know where this piece goes or perhaps has a picture of what it should look like once you put it back together. Help im in Daytona at bike week and I want to get around.

Answers:

Any of you seen pics of attempts by folks in the UK?

That is your cruise control, it goes in a recess in the lower portion of the switch housing/throttle housing. the closed end forward, hole down. There should be a thumb screw up through the bottom of the housing(If not there is a threaded hole where it should be). The thumb screw is supposed to be held in by a small cir clip.
If the thumb screw is missing you may want to go to the dealer to get one, you could look at the book there.
If you don't use the cruise control, just leave it out, you don't need it, it's just so you can take your hand off the throttle and not decelerate.

A little copper wedge ay? Well first off you don't need it. Everything will still work properly. I had the same thing happen on a 01 Deuce, went to the harley shop and they said that there is no replacement part for it. Neeless to say, it's been out for 3 years now and it's fine. The "wedge" actually came out of you little brake switch and it's for alignment like a shim, your fine.

What does the word ''torque'' mean?

the little piece you are talking about actually came from your throttle lock.

If you notice on your control, there's a little star type object, when you turn the star it tightens against the metal wedge putting pressure against your throttle sleeve, hence the name throttle lock.

you really shouldn't need this, unless you plan on using your throttle lock. It's been a while since I last had mine a part, but if I'm not mistaking it just rests in the cradle above your lock adjuster.

Recently we bought a 2005 Harley, the mileage was or we were told 1500 miles. The weather is bad here so we ha

Now that adjuster can be a real PIA getting that circlip on it but that's another story.
