What is an 883 evo. I am looking to purchase a bike with this motor but the guy selling it has no clue what an evo is. I am looking to find out all I can about this motor. Is it good or is it bad. Thanks for the help

The Evolution engine or evo was the engine that saved Harley Davidson from bankruptcy. It replaced their shovel head engine that was prone to leaks and other problems, giving Harley a bad name. They replaced the engines on the Sportster models in the mid 1980's. For the most part of the 80's, 90's until now, there were two sizes, the 883cc and the 1200cc size. the 883 is a good motor, and if in time you want more power you can make it a 1200 with just cylinders and pistons...a converted 883 will normally run a little better due to the fact it has a bit lower primary gear...I have built a couple verrrrry strong sporty motors starting with a stock 883..How do I sell my bike in bangalore?
used to be u could upgrade an 883 to a 1200. those days are over if u want to hold costs down. an 883 with a stage1 puts out a hell of alot of torque for its size. its a very good and reliable motor. the 1200 also is an evo, and i've had zero problems with it in the 2 years i've had it.More Questions & Answers ...
