How do I put a cone air filter on a Honda Shadow?

I want to put a cone air filter on my 1996 Honda Shadow vlx 600. I found a picture of the same bike with one on it at bikepics.com but I can't get ahold of the guy that did it. I'm pretty sure I have to modify the air cleaner box.

The filter box has no point of being on there if you put a cone filter on your bike You might want to think about pulling it all the way off if you don't need it
