that is something that you cant learn by reading it is a learned task. you have to know throttle control. but with most bikes if it is in first and you mash the gas you will bring the wheel off the ground. but remember this you must learn throttle control and safety and is not recommended for inexperienced riders

If you want to challenge death and permanent injury, then continue on. A wheelie is where you twist the throttle up to full power from a stop, or a much lower speed. Just remember one thing, when you do, your ability to control the bike is based SOLELY on your sense of balance. If you are to far back in the seat, then your center of gravity, your bodily behind, is going to add to the situation and you could end up on the road with the bike on top of you. That will not only ruin your day, but it will hurt and could also kill you. Be as close to the front of the bike as possible, and let off of the throttle as soon as possible after you are up. Be prepared for the shock of the bike's front end hitting the surface of the road again, as at this point you could also lose control of the bike.

It depends on the power of the bike. Some will 'power wheelie' under hard acceleration and they can be quite controlled and fairly stimulating. The more theatrical wheelie usually needs a combination of closing and re-opening the throttle. Make sure that you cover the rear brake pedal so that you can use the brake to prevent the bike coming up too far. It doesn't achieve much beyond looking a prat, especially when you end up on your ****!.

ANYWAY, if your bike is not powerful, your going to need to 'dip' the clutch, which is giving the bike a fair amount of revs, having the clutch half way in, just outside the biting point, then releasing quickly, it will put a large amount of torque on the back wheel making it 'pop' a wheelie, thats the best way to do it.

OR you could just full throttle and blow things up, your choice. Full throttling will cause you to accelerate way to fast, meaning you cant keep the same control, neither will you be able to keep a sensibe wheelie speed, you'll just come down with a bang.

I have ridden and wheelied many bikes. It can't really be explained in text, you need to practice...probably dumping the clutch and giving it a handfull will get you started but watch out for burned out clutches, shagged chains and the unexpected . Many sports bikes (my GSXR 1000 included) will wheelie purely off the throttle (on private roads obviously). Just practice....and as they say "If you have to ask then you probably won't understand !"

I would say learn on something small, wear lots of protection and respect what the bike is able to do. There are too many stunt videos that you can watch and get a feel for just by watching. Then get a really shitty beat up bike or a small bike that you can dump if things go wrong...
