Question:
I have a KX 80 motorcycle (2 stroke dirtbike) and have a shifting question. Whenever I shift up or down I always use the clutch. My friend told me that you really dont have to use the clutch to shift. Can any damage be caused not using the clutch? Like if I dont use it sometimes as opposed to never using it, would any sort of damage be caused? Thanks.

How much do I have to weigh to ride a motorcycle?
Back off the throttle a bit, snick it up into the next gear, then gas it. As long as there is a momentary drop in the power it will easily go into gear. If you have to force it, your not timing it right. If that happens, grab a handful of clutch and make the shift. The key is to learn to be as smooth as possible. It'll take some practice, but you'll get it. As long as you don't have to force the lever to make the shift, it won't hurt the close ratio transmission one bit.Downshifting is a little different as the load on the transmission and clutch will be different. Best advice here is to always use the clutch downshifting.
My Harley is spitting alittle bit could it be coming from since I cut my baffles?
Yes, you can shift without using the clutch BUT, the chances that you'll damage the transmission are much greater than if you clutch for every shift. I advise you to use the clutch but if you decide that you want to try driving without it, then shift without clutchin on the upshift rather than on the downshift. The chances of harming the transmission are less.how much would it cost me to license a motorcycle worth $10,000.00 in south carolina?
The first answer is correct. I'll just add that many of the professional racers shift without using the clutch. However, those machines get torn down and gone through frequently. If you are are using your bike just to play around on and would like it to last longer, continue using the clutch.what is the difference in a harley davidson fxdwg-fxrwg-fxwg. motorcycle.?
