kawasaki er500 suspension?
i agree with the first guy. Panheads were generator motors, all kick start. until 1965, when they made an electric start, this is the last panhead, and the most valuable. they used the same panhead bottom end with the new shovelhead top end until late 68. Then the new all shovelhead was released.
technically speaking the shovel is more advanced and flows better, etc. BUT i wouldnt trade one good panhead cylinder head for a whole running shovelhead motor. Panhead parts are insane in price. Fix the panhead all stock, and ride a shovel if you like. drop a shovel mill in your old poan frame and run it, dont lose that pan motor. them things are works of art, and the prettiest HD mill ever made.
otherwise its a bolt on swap, afternoons work.

alot of folks have done it its called a panshovel I myself would go for a full panhead but for a daily rider the shovel top end has a level of reliability that cant be had from the pan valve train
