Question:
I cannot pull my clutch lever. The cable is good as is the lever. Also the bike does'nt seem to go into gear when you hit the shifter. I pulled the cover on the left side and the "clutch rod" going into the motor is free but I don't know if there is supposed to be a spring behind it or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Answers:
Why is it a problem if somebody drops a bike?
there is no spring behind the rod. has the bike been siiting around awhile? it sounds like the clutch disks are siezed together. if the cable is free, remove the clutch basket, and remove the fiber clutch disks and steel disks. and iff they are in good shape, soak the fibers in oil, and reinstall. You can't pull the clutch? It doesn't move or it moves and it does disengage the engine?
If it's the second then the flat on the lever shaft might be worn or the rod could be bent/damaged.
On some bikes there is a ball from a ball bearing at the end of the lever! Is it missing?
George is right about a ball bearing in the 'hollow' where clutch rod fits. Usual cause is just really bad adjustment. loosen adjuster at bar (screw it all the way in to lever) loosen adjuster on case and adjust with the screw and locknut in middle( I think there is a separate cover over operating lever so you don't see drive sprocket)
Been at least 6 yrs since I worked on one
Not much help but in 78 I bought a KE125. One of if not the most fun bike I every owned. Hope you get it fixed.
