How do I check to see if the regulator/ rectifier is in working condition?

Question:
I have a 1990 kawasaki ex500.

Answers:

I want a motocross bike to ride on streets. Is that legal nd possible?!?!?

Put a known good battery into the bike and start it up. Measure the voltage at the battery with a digital voltmeter, holding a high idle, you should get a reading of 13.5-15 VDC, if not regulator/rectifier is bad.OR.the stator is bad. To check stator find the three wires from the stator coming into the regulator/rectifier unit plug, they will be all be white or yellow (probably). Set your meter to OHMs function check for continuity between all three wires one to another, should be continuity at some low Ohms value if not stator is bad. Next check continuity between any of those three wires and the engine case (unpainted area) should be NO contiunity, if there is stator is shorted and is bad. Next check stator output, leave regulator unplugged, set meter to AC volts function, start engine hold high idle and measure voltage between any two of the three stator wires (check all, two at a time). You should get approximately 75 VAC at 5000RPM if NO output or very low output stator is bad.
Other possibility is magnets in the flywheel are damaged, but, this is EXTREMELY rare. Some bikes are known for stator going bad, others are known for regulator rectifier unit. I could tell you how to check the rectifier, but, I don't want this to turn into a book. Need anymore help feel free to email geo46er@yahoo.com

What is the speed limit for a road legal quad bike? Thinking of getting one but heard it mi?

A process of elimination. Test things that are easily checkable first. If every thing tests out OK, there's a 99% chance that the reg/rec is bad.
The rectifier half of the component is testable with a meter. Anyone attempting to work on their own bike, should own a shop manual. Would you rather invest $40 to learn the correct repair procedures, or take a strangers advice and make a $500 mistake?

Who will come second in first moto GP ?

voltmeter and ammeter.
You can get both cheap.
Any autoparts store for ammeter (30-0-30, about $10.00~$15.00), connect in series with thin (red or red/white?) wire coming out of starter solenoid, by main fuse, not the thick wire going to batttery or starter motor.
voltmeter across battery terminals +& -
Should read 5+amps and 14.5 max volts DC.
Best way to dynamic check regulator.
