what is a duel sport bike?

From you're description, it sounds as though you have detonation. This can result from using gasoline of too low an octane, having the ignition timing advanced too far, a too-lean mixture, hot spots in the combustion chamber from carbon build-up, or a combination of the foregoing. My guess is that the mixture is too lean, as they are set awfully lean from the factory (to meet EPA requirements), and, possibly, you got some bad gas, or you're trying to run it on regular. Don't let this go very long, as you can destroy your pistons and valves - very expensive. Run premium, preferably from a major brand station that sells a high volume of gas, and, if that doesn't cure it, look into enriching the fuel mixture. If your Buell is fuel injected, you may want to look into adding a Power Commander to reset your mixture (if it's anything like Harley, the injection is too lean from the factory, and any intake or exhaust changes will make the situation worse, and H-D downloads won't compensate enough). Using a PC, DFO or similar unit is the onlly way to adjust your fuel mixture if fuel injected. If it is carbureted, a rejet may be in order.

Sounds like slack rack from the chain against the tranny housing. That or quit riding it with crappy gas, buy from a larger chain, where the gas is cycled sooner than a month ago. Smaller gas stations may be cheaper, but the gas sits longer, and the average gas loses octane within about 3 weeks.

Without seeing your bike to diagnose it, I'll have to agree with thughwin1's answer. Depending on the miles you have on it, if the chain was loose, it could be dangling against any drive chain guides or rollers. The chain would make a ringing noise going around the sprockets. If the chain has never been lubed, the rollers in the chain links might be starting to wear out. Constantly riding in wet conditions would add to the problem, if the chain is not properly lubed on a regular basis.

FZR 600 R gearing change?

check the chain for proper tension and lube. chains need lubed every so often unlike belts. chains do lose tension as they break in. since its only 3 months old, it would be a good idea to check that. they slightly strech as they break in. and only run premium gas in that scoot. cheep gas gives cheep results.
