Why do 4-wheelers depreciate so quickly?

Question:
I have a Honda Recon 250 that I am selling. It is 2 years old and has less than 12 hours on it, yet I am told by several experts that I will be lucky to get alf of what I paid for it. I bought it new for $3500 in 2005. Why do these suckers depreciate so fast?

Answers:

What bike model should i start with im a beginer?

We have one of the same models and a 2006 250. They still look brand new, but we have had those suckers tail pipe deep in mud, sand and water. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't pay very much for a used one knowing what we put ours through having fun. No disrespect to you on that, but you just never know where one has been. I know it must be a pain trying to get what you think it is worth out of it and can't. Best of luck to you.BTW, why are you selling? That is what my husband, our children and i do for fun. Forget going to the movies, gas those boogers up and hit the trails.

How do i take the tips off of my handlebar if the screws are rusted...any special way to do that.?

it is used and no one believes you when you say it has only 12 hours on it. even it is true.
i I'm trying to sell a 1987 kx 250 and every one says that 800 is to much even with a new engine with 1 hour on it and is in good shape.

How do I flush the brake fluid on a gsxr 750?

once you buy it new and ride it.and then try and sell it even if its for 1-2 hours every one thinks there is some thing wrong with it. why else would you sell it.
even dealers will only give you 1/4 of the value even tho they will sell it for twice that. so good luck i have had mine for sell for 1 year and only one person test rode it. he revved the crap out of it. and said it was weak hello its not broke in and I'm still over mixing it to seat the rings. he thought i was full of it so good luck on selling yours for what you want out of it.

My 03 r6 is backfiring and running crappy after being in rain, what could possible problems be!?

Deep in your sub-conscious you know the answer to this question. Come up with it yet? The answer is that they are not worth what you paid for it. Not even close. A $3500 four wheeler cost 7 or 800 dollars to produce. The dealers and factories make so much off of one that when you get tired of it and try to sell it then you ask close to what you pay for it and no one ever thinks about what it is actually worth and they just by it cause they got more money than sense. There was time in America when 100% profit was enough. If it took 500 to make something, then 1000 was the price. No more. Those CEO's, and Vice Pres. and Jr. Vice pres. all have to make million a year or the company needs to file bankruptcy.

Where can i find a diagram on the basic four-stroke cycle engine, with labels?

The truth is that the average mark up on parts and accessories is 35%, on new units, around 18%, on used units, around 25%. That's it. Period. Now factor in that on new units we're paying floor plan costs and the longer a unit sits on the floor the less we make on it.

What is a good idea for toy motorcycle party favors?

The reason your machine depreciates so fast is just what most of those responding have told you. It's also a case of supply and demand. Few people want a toy after you have played with it. When we take an ATV on trade it is in one of two conditions. Like new and hardly ridden, or beat all to hell.

What would you consider an appropriate punishment for someone caught stealing your bike?

If it's like new and priced accordingly, most folks will want to finance it. It's harder to get a used unit financed than a new one, and even if you do get it financed, if there isn't much difference in price then there won't be in the payment either. So if there was only a few dollars difference in the payment of a new machine over a used machine, which would you buy?

Does anyone know how to sync carbs on a 1994 suzuki 800 intruder?

doobie true, where in the world did you get those numbers? i worked at an atv manufacturer for 6 years and i know they are not getting 3 to 4 times the price to build, it just isnt happening, labor is expensive, health care, steel prices have skyrocketed, not sure if you just made that stuff up or what

I have a 1999 Suzuki bike and it has a little play inthe swing arm back tire its normal or it could be fix?

as for depreciating atv's, just like others said everyone knows that you probably beat the heck out of the thing, then washed it up real quick to sell, it was probably buried in mud and redlined on the trails the week before

Bike got keyed, how should I fix this?

Because it was overpriced to begin with.
