Question:
I have a 1990 Kawasaki EX500. The bike is a purpleish blue with lots of paint chips. I want to completely change the color of the bike to probably a very dark gray or black. I was wondering what I can use on the fairings to get the decal stripe off of the side and what I should use to get them ready to paint( What grit sandpaper, steel wool, a paint stripper?) And then when everything is prepped and ready to be painted if I can just use a high-quality spray paint with a few coats of clear laquer? Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!

You can get a decal remover solvent from any parts store. I would remove as much of the old paint as possible and fill in the low places. The paint they use on that is specially made for that application.some paints do not stick well to plastic and you will get poor results. It may look good for awhile but it will flake like crazy.More Questions & Answers ...
