Aaron O Hi it could be a couple things a valve stuck open or damaged . The rings could be bad or broken . ( when it was running if it smoked a lot . That would be a good sign of these problems .) A piston could be damaged also .I would check or have someone knowledgeable check the compression relief Valve. That's a good place to start and is the lesser of the other problems .. Good Luck

Well, it sure sounds like you compression release valve is stuck open. Hopefully is just dislodged and sprung off, but lets talk reality. Look in that area for anything with a fresh break, or something that looks like it belongs, but is not there.
Do you know where there is another one is that you can compare it to?. I am only speculating, but I would say that you have a broken part involved with your compression release. A compression release is put on bikes so when you kick it, it will not kick back and break your leg. The compression release closes when the engine starts

First go to Wal-Mart and get some compression, it's on sale this week. If you don't have any money just take some of the compression out of your forks or your shocks. Make sure not to bother the rebound. Take your spark plug out and pour the compression down the spark plug hole. Re-install your plug and your ready to go. Make sure you don't pour to much compression in cause you might have to use race gas. Hope this helps. ThanksMore Questions & Answers ...
