Why is my fuel leaking from the bottom of the gas tank. I have a 1999 gsxr 600.?

Question:
have bought a new fuel gasket and put it on there but the gas is still leaking out of one side. What's going on?

Is the fuel actually leaking from the petcock? Petcocks do leak. You might need a new one.
Is the fuel leaking from the tube under the tank? That's the over flow, for when you spill gas while filling the tank. The gasket on the gas cap may need replacing if that's where the gas is coming from.
Didn't know it was an over flow? Open the gas cap and you'll see a hole. Fuel goes through it and out the tube under the tank. So make sure that hose is attached and routed so it won't leak gas on the exhaust.

you could have a crack in the tank, and it wouldn't have to be on the bottom, it could drip down the side and look like its coming from the bottom, hope this helps, good luck

the gasket may be good but the seal is prob bad. ck to c if the gasket is getting the proper seal. also it must be the proper gasket with the right thickness to properly seal both sides. No rust on metal, or scratches to valley the runoff.

it must have been rusted. did you keep gas in your tank too long?? drain all the gas you have into some container then check if its rusted, and check inside of the tank.

as i agree with all the above info supplied in answer but something not mentioned in regardes to corrosion in the tank in the form of a rust pin hole is a two part tank sealant to seal holes and boy is it good have used to repair and restore some mates bikes. tis made by www.ppc.com.au or permanent protective coatings , follow its directions and all good.
have ya tried presurizeing the tank with compressed air.
nozzle into tank and wrapp and stuff rag into tank opening and pressurize tank with a second person to observe under the tank and ya may see exactly where the leak is cominhg from . a hole or the pet **** seet up
