A friend of mine changed his motorcycle battery recently. I've ridden it before and after. With the new battery it jump and wants to stall whenever it feels like it. Is it the battery or possibly something else?

Yes it could be the battery. Bikes are not like cars. In a car, at least an older car, you could start it, remove the battery, and the vehicle would run fine.1983 to 1985 yamaha ytm 200 owners!!!?
In a bike you will find that it requires a complete circuit to run properly. There would have to be something seriously wrong with the battery or the cables are loose causing it to run real rough.

I would try a different motorcycle battery to see if you have the same problem. DO NOT JUMP A BIKE WITH A CAR…BAD MOJO!! If you used a car battery to jump the bike then Yes that is likely it.
If the replcement battery fixes the problem great!!
If not, see above comment and let out the clutch smoothly while applying the gas ;-)

you need to make sure you put a full charge on the battery before you run it.i recently rejeuvenated a 79 vespa bravo moped-will it do more than 22 mph?
check if the battery is charged properly. If its not up to charge its not generating the correct amount of voltage to keep the ignition system running. As well, check your timing.Make sure the battery has a full charge, and all connections are proper and tight. If that doesn't get it, then the problem is something else.
