If the problem is only since you did the timing chain the most likely cause is over advanced timing. If the exhaust is getting a lot hotter where its coming out of the head, (Chrome turning blue) thats proof

If it's air cooled, maybe the oil pump is not working. If it is water cooled, could be the water pump, has the radiator been flushed? Is your air cleaner dirty and causing it to run with improper fuel, air mixture?

Check your coolant level first of all. If the level is low it could be as simple as a leaking coolant hose or a loose clamp! Also inspect the radiator for damage while you are at it.
If it's not that you might want to pull the water pump and make sure it is working properly... see the service manual for your bike for details.

The other possiblity is a blown head gasket... check your oil for coolant just in case.
