How do you put motorcycle exhaust pipes back on?

I recently bought an 83 Honda Nighthawk. I took the old aftermarket pipes off to put it back to original, and when I unbolted it, a bunch of half circle flanges came flying out. Unfortunately, I did not see how they were in there. How do you put it all back together?

The half circles are used to hold the pipes to the motor.

--The pipes have a larger diameter where they touch the motor.
--The half circles fit around the small diameter of the pipes.
--The clamps (they have fins and bolt to the motor) press against the half circles.
Installation process
--Remove the old gaskets from the exhaust ports (where the pipes attach).
--Put a few dabs of sticky grease on the new gaskets and place them in the ports (the sticky grease keeps them from falling out).
--Slide all 4 clamps onto the pipes.
--Put the pipes up to the motor (as if they were installed).
--Get another person to hold them in place, or put a jack under to hold them up (just some ways to help).
--Put 2 half circles on one pipe and install a clamp finger tight.
--Do the same for the rest of the pipes.
--Install the bolt on the muffler bracket finger tight (this holds the exhaust system in the correct position when tightening everything).
--Tighten the exhaust clamps on the motor.
--Tighten everything equally in increments - a couple of turns on pipe 1 - a couple on pipe 2 - 3 - 4 - repeate the procedure at 1 again.
--Tighten the muffler bracket.
