Question:
i am thinking of buying a motorbike, but i am lost, should i buy a brand new indian motorbike like bajaj pulsar or avenger or Tvs Apache etc, or should i rather go for a re-conditioned japanese motorbike such as suzuki bandit, honda rebel etc?. Some people say that indian motorbike engines sucks, they die out with in matter of two years plus while they are at it, it keeps giving small here and there troubles, Some others says, i rather settle for a brand new indian bike than buying a used japanese one because it is brand new and japanese bikes doesn't have very good fuel consumption control, so these days feul price is also a considering matter here in this part of the world. (i am currently living in Sri Lanka). Can someone helpe me out?, which choice is better?, usually indian bikes such as pulsar 180DTSi, does 50KM per litre of petrol while Suzuki Bandit 250cc (1997 model) does 30km max. One more thing, people i asked said, newly bought indian bikes consumes less petrol only whn new

Boy has a kx 85 and i was wondering what fork oil to use and how much and how to drain it?
Japanese bikes are definitely better in quality. For purchasing decision, a lot depends upon the guarantee available, service network, availability of spares. Unavailability of any of these can make your bike inoperational (literaly or financially), if something happens. What is the quality of reconditioned bikes ? Do these carry manufacturer's or some similar certification like "BMW certified pre-owned". A local job of reconditioning and you may receive the same lack of quality. Settling for a 10 year old reconditioned bike ? Well 10 years is on little excessive side - how much remaining life do you expect from a 10 years old bike ?You should consider an old bike which is well maintained and which is not more than 4-5 years old.Why spokes are not arranged perpendicular to rim of motor cycle rather than at angle?
I'm not sure about Indian bikes, but I do know that those Indian cars really suck.BTW, the Suzuki's and Honda's sold in Sri Lanka are probably made in Thailand. I own a Suzuki 110 scooter myself.
To motorcyclists: Do you negotiate the price of a motorcycle? If so, how?
i'll admit that i don't know very much about indian motorcycles except the enfield bullet 350 and 500. if they are an indication of the quality of indian bikes, then i'd have to say that the japanese bikes would win any reliability contest. however, just about any new bike of the same basic configuration as an older bike will get better fuel economy. as the engine wears down, the piston rings allow for more gasses to get past, and fuel economy suffers as a result. if fuel economy is your most important consideration, then a newer, smaller bike is the way to go. also, stay away from 2 strokes in general because they are usually take more fuel compared to a similar sized 4 stroke. What happens if exhaust is clogged?
