The dog loves it, I/We have a blast, Everyone we pass seems ammused. The old lady is putting together a website promoting "Doggie sidecars "(hollithesidecardog.com) and is getting a lot of negative feedback?Are we the only ones who enjoy (or would enjoy) taking our dog riding?

sure go for it. i had a black lab who loved to go for a ride in our side car. old Honda 750k with custom side car. that dog went nuts the minute i fired that old bike up. also best damn bike alarm i ever had no one messed with that bike. while he was in it LOL.that dog and i must have traveled about 10.000 mile in his life time. he lived till he was 14. i now have his grand son age 5 he took over now we go for small rides. on that same old bike. i get people who tell me hey good way to kill a dog if ya wreck. told them good way for me to die as well. the local police and state police say hey as long as hes sitting way down in it and he has a wind screen hes legal..I am trying to change the oil on my Kawasaki Ninja ZX750. Hey if the dog is trained to stay in the side car let the negative people have there say but don't stop letting the dog have some fun. We do caution you to have a leash on the dog. Some places have laws that apply to having a dog un restrained. Just like in the back of a pickup. The dogs love the open air. Enjoymy friend wants to buy a used cbr 600rr?

Most of the people sending negative feedback, are most likely uneducated in the area of dogs and bikes! As long as the particular dog that is riding is trained not to jump out, then its fine. Even if it the dog is a jumper, there are 5 point harness seat belts for them! I have even seen little rag-tails and helmets for dogs!

If that's what 'floats you boat', do it.I knew this rider in Batavia, New York that was always riding his Beagle on the tank of his Honda 360CB. Then when I worked in Melvindale, Michigan, I had a customer that came in every Sunday with his Border Collie on his FLH. This guy made a helmet for the dog and purchased goggles to fit him. He also rode the dog on the tank. My ex-wife made her second husband buy a new Harley with a hack(sidecar) so they could take her toy Pincher on trips.
I say if you love you pet and they are trained, more power to ya.

I think it's a grand idea.When I was between marriages, my black lab was my constant companion. She would go everywhere I went, even to work. I was seriously considering the same thing, then came the puppies, another marriage, etc, Now that she's old, she stays home with the wife and kids a lot.

I pulled a Vetter Terraplane for two seasons back in the late '70's and my dogs were convinced I'd bought it just for them. They loved it and we got lots of "thumbs up" from folks we passed.
