Muffler cleaning?

Question:
I have a 50cc 2-stroke scooter. What's the best way to clean the oil deposits and burnt residue from inside of the muffler? I tried soaking it in a degreaser like simple green but that didn't do anything.

ah, yes the old days here. My old YL100 '68 had this issue. The muffler there had an insert that was removable because of the oil mix. Simple green is NOT a degreaser. Gunk is the answer besides scrape-ing. For a one piece just spray in, let set, blast out with water till no more black stuff.GoJo for the hands after. Engine degreaser may also be fine. Ur experimenting will find the best procedure.

Do you know anyone that has a Buell "Blast"?

Take it down a back road and floor it!!

Take it to your local bodyshop and have them sand blast it. Make sure they use glass beads or some other softer medium.
