Is a Yamaha Virago 250 too wimpy to learn on for a middle aged man who last had a motorcycle 25 years ago?

I live in Bristol, want a new rear tyre fitted and don't want to pay any more than I have to for a reasonable tyre.

You can usually get them a bit cheaper off the internet (places like black circles ot moto-tyres) but when you factor in the cost of having them fitted to the rims it rarely works out any cheaper.

Afaik kwik fit don't do them but if they did they'd charge double the price for a tyre of half the quality.
