I'm going to have a shot on a friends motorbike, its a Suzuki RM250. I've never ridden a motorbike before. Does anyone have any tips as to how to get started? Even if it seems really obvious or simple, please let me know anyway, I'm an absolute novice. Thanks!!

Not sure this is the best bike for you to learn on I have owned and raced a few of these for a number of years, it may only be a 250 but has a power to weight ratio greater than alot of super cars. Try using 2nd gear to pull off, 1st gear will flip you off if not used to throttle control a 250 2 Stroke Ive had to replace a few rear mudguards after letting friends try my bike its even taken friends with superbikes have been taken by surprise of the power. If you can try something a little more forgiving than a 250 2 stroke try a 4 stroke or a 125 2 stroke as your first ride. That said you wont stop smiling for days when you get used to the power good luck.Where do all my patches and pins go on my biker vest?

Make sure you have some good gear, its worth it, trust me. Hanng on with your legs, if you try to wrestle the bike around with your arms they will pump up and that sucks. Other than that, just relax and have fun with it. Motocross is one of the most fun things I have done. I learnt to ride by going really slowly in a car park for an hour and learning to control the bike on the clutch (its different to a car, you can slip the clutch on a bike as much as you like). Remember, any idiot can make a bike go fast but controlling it is the most important thing. well they're pretty easy to start with motocross boots on...WEAR ALL THE GEAR! basically the main gear u need is a helmet and boots....just take it easy dont try to go fast or keep up with ur friend....dont go to fast around the corners cuz u'll slide out,also in the corners dont mash ur front brake! just take it easy and have FUN! u'll be addicted to it! trust me!you have to be kidding
