Is a 1987 Kawasaki Ex500 "Ninja" a good starter bike for an 18 year old?
Where the clutch engages through the lever travel is Purely a function of cable legnth. Keep adjusting it (you know there's a Fine adjustment at the lever, and a Gross ~ big movement ~ adjustment at the other end), and don't worry about how much free play the lever has once you've found your sweet spot.A "Bad Clutch" would be one that doesn't engage fully, i.e. it Slips. You'd know if that were the case as the bike would rev easily, but you wouldn't speed up as normal.
oil light on 2003 sportster staying on. oil level is OK.?
There is usually a second area to adjust at the clutch basket. Before you rebuild the clutch check it out. If you are unable to adjust out the late hook up it could be a worn clutch. . A loose cable provdes for earlier hook up if you are tightening the adjustment , back it off. Also check for wear grooves in the clutch basket from the friction disk. These will cause the plates to hang up.
what are the most reliable companys when it comes to sport bikes?
you might want to check your clutch cable to make sure its not over stretchedif it is not adjusting through cable ,then tell the person to check the clutch internally,it may be problem of push rod and ball, which is inside the axle,or your clutch housing spring is not working properly...
