I believe you need a cbt to ride it on the road yes. Round about £100 and a it takes a day to do it. I did mine for a 125cc bike 4 years ago.
Depends. If you passed your driving test (car) before Feb 2001 then no, you don't need a cbt and can jump straight on a 50cc.

If it's got two wheels and an engine, you need a CBT certificate. If you're 24, you should be aiming a damn sight higher than a 50cc scooter. They are intended solely for 16-year old kids who don't know any better. Are there any good, inexpensive motorcycle mechanics in San Antonio, TX?
Yes you do. It costs about 100 quid (usually including renting the bike to do it on, but check). It takes a day. The morning is spent listening to the guy tell you about the basics, then you ride around some cones for a bit. Then in the afternoon you spend two hours out on the road. It's very, very easy and unless you do something really stupid you can't fail it. It means you can ride anything up to 125cc for two years. If you don't do your bike test within those two years, you have to do a CBT again to keep riding. Good luck.More Questions & Answers ...
