I have a vtx 1300 r/s and am wondering if removing the baffles is possible and if it is, is it worth it.

take the baffles out, and u wind up with a straight pipe that will be heard for roughly a mile away. straight pipes also doesnt have backpressure, and the engine actually needs it for better performance. unless u run wide open over 4k rpm, it'll actually hurt performance.contrary to popular opinion, loud pipes are worthless in keeping cagers at bay. today's cars are too well sound insulated. in some local's, loud pipes could become a cop magnet, and u'll wind up with a fix-it ticket.

The stock pipe does not have a removable baffle. Many people drill holes in the back of the muffler or find a way to punch out the inside with a chisel and/or holesaw. However, in over 20 years of being a mechanic I have only seen it work good once. You usually end up with some raspy blatty sound. Your best bet would be to see and hear what pipes others have used and then make a decission. Try going into yahoo groups, do a search for VTX clubs/forums, I bet there are several. You may have to join but its free and will provide you with a wealth of info.how write in Japanese : "only God can judge me"?
our dealership and all others I work for (that will do this) use a big long drillbit and drill straight through nasty baffles. Some applications will require simple adjustments to the carbs.Others can be more consuming. Some fuel injection systems adjust. Some require separate controllers to bring it up to speed.
