Question:
I start the bike alright but the starter remains engaged while the engine is running fine. Turning off the switch, nor the engine cutout switch, not even the sidekick will disengage the starter motor. At first I dissasembled the starter switch, but no luck there. The starter relay seems to be fine also. The only way to turn the engine and the starter off is when the battery dies.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks,
how do I find motorcycle tires country of origin?

When the bike is running and the starter is spinning, unplug the solenoid (starter relay). Leave the 2 thick wires attached.--If the starter motor keeps running, then the solenoid is defective - replace it.
--If the starter motor stops spinning, then the problem is in the wire harness or starter button (handlebar switch).
--Plug the solenoid back in and disconnect the handlebar switch.
--If the starter motor stops spinning - replace the handlebar switch.
--If it keeps spinning, then the problem is some where in the wire harness and needs further investigating.

the starter relay is most likely not disengaging, but if it has no power on the starter side after start, and starter continues to run then you may have to replace the starter motor. good luckI want to buy a 250cc bike in india..any suggestions?
there should be some kind of spring that tosses the starter gear back out... you can always pull the starter off and see if something is broken on the gear...More Questions & Answers ...
