91 GSX-R a good starter cycle? And is $500 too good to pass?

Question:
My buddy bought a 91 GSX-R for 1g.. Friends messed with it, and now it has a fuel leak.. Friends think it is the fuel tank pet **** seal. Figure he is sick of it and said he would probably just sell it for $500.. Should I jump on the deal? I'd use it as a daily driver, and a learner cycle.

What is a good all-around motorcycle for taking across the states?

Man, if that thing runs and has a title you should jump on that with a quickness. No doubt, fix the leak and even if you don't like the bike you can sell your self for more than $500.
